Zinc Bioavailability
My adrenals were low so my doctor recommended the bisglycinate form of zinc for better absorption and bioavailability. A plus side of taking this product is I've noticed less severe flu and cold symptoms and I learned that Vitamin D absorption is maximized when you take zinc. I would recommend this product to anyone, especially during cold and flu season.

Zinc Bisglycinate is The Most Active
Zinc can be difficult to absorb in the most commonly used form, which is gluconate. Citrate is better, but Zinc Bisglycinate is the best form. I was using citrate for a long time, and then when bis-glycinate became available, I switched on the advice or my naturopath. I haven't had a cold or flu - not even COVID since then.

Yes, you are right, Mr. Underhill. This is why so many NDs recommend this form of zinc to their patients. Stay healthy!

More Info
Zinc - An Essential Mineral

Zinc is responsible for so many body functions. Zinc concentrates in the reproductive glands where it aids in normal fetal development and sperm maturation. It is especially important in the prostate gland where supplemental zinc has been shown to decrease prostate inflammation. Zinc is a regulator of the immune system ensuring that cells for identifying and killing microbes and viruses are in good working order. Zinc is a cofactor for the antioxidant system superoxide dismutase (SOD). Zinc also speeds wound healing and is used for the healing of burns and surgical incisions. Zinc is involved in the sensory organs, the eyes, nose and taste buds.

Zinc also regulates the activity of insulin, for blood sugar control, thyroid hormone, for metabolism and the digestion of sugar and protein. Natural health practitioners use zinc for a variety of health concerns including; acne, benign prostatic hyperplasia, colds, flus, diabetes, diaper rash, stomach ulcers, macular degeneration, impotence, osteoporosis, eczema and wound healing.

Prostate Health

Getting up frequently at night, pain in the groin, painful urination, and reduced sexual function - all symptoms of common prostate conditions. The prostate is the organ responsible for producing the fluid part of seminal emissions, helping to control the flow of urine, and for the contractions that cause ejaculation during orgasm. It's no wonder that when a man has a concern with his prostate that it can be troublesome.

Prostate problems occur when the gland becomes infected or swollen. The most common prostate condition is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It occurs in men over the age of fifty (but can occur earlier) due to hormonal imbalances, heredity, poor diet, nutrient deficiencies or high cholesterol. The growth of malignant or benign tumours can also cause prostate swelling. Make at least yearly appointments past age forty for this test.

Are You Deficient?

One of the first signs of zinc deficiency can be altered taste and smell.Zinc levels are decreased by diarrhea, kidney disease, liver disease, alcoholism and diabetes. Zinc is not absorbed when it is consumed with fibre, phytates (found in grains and legumes), hard water, calcium, copper and iron. Zinc is lost through perspiration so supplementation may be helpful for athletes, those who live in hot climates and those who regularly use saunas or steam rooms. Zinc is depleted by the following medications: oral contraceptives, some diuretics, ulcer medications, antiviral medication and some antibiotics. Much of our food is deficient in zinc due to poor soil levels of the mineral. Food processing techniques destroy zinc.
