New Roots Red Palm Fruit Oil
Red Palm Fruit Oil is uniquely rich in potent antioxidants, as well as cholesterol- and trans-fat-free: this allows it to help protect your brain, heart, skin, and other organs from disease and aging, as well as boost your metabolism and help reduce stubborn belly fat.
Its deep red/orange color comes from a high concentration of carotenes like beta-carotene (provitamin A) and lycopene, the antioxidants found in carrots and tomatoes, but which occur in red palm fruit oil in much higher concentrations.
The body converts beta-carotene into vitamin A, which helps promote a strong immune system and builds good vision. Red palm fruit oil is one of the richest natural sources of tocotrienols and tocopherols (vitamin E) that act as scavengers of damaging free radicals and play a protective role against aging and atherosclerosis. The combination of vitamin E, tocotrienols, carotenes, coenzyme Q10, and other antioxidants makes red palm fruit oil a super- antioxidant food.
The antioxidant power of this unique oil may help protect against diseases such as osteoporosis, cataracts, macular degeneration, arthritis, and liver disease. Plus, it can help protect the skin from UV- ray damage and premature aging. And because red palm fruit oil goes directly to the liver, it not only doesn’t get stored as fat like traditional oils but it actually helps ignite the metabolism and helps you burn calories from fat much faster.
How Can I use It?
As is, on vegetables, in salads, spread on bread, for cooking, baking, high-heat frying, etc. No refrigeration required. Naturally thickens to a paste. Carotino red palm fruit oil contains 13 to 15 times more carotenes than carrots, and 40 to 50 times more carotene than tomatoes. Tocopherols and tocotrienols are two forms of vitamin E, a strong antioxidant. Among all vegetable oils, red palm fruit oil has by far the highest level of naturally occurring tocotrienols. Carotino red palm fruit oil does not raise bad cholesterol and is good for heart health. Non-hydrogenated. Contains 1.8 mg coenzyme Q10 per 15 ml. 1 tablespoon contains a high percentage of the daily value of vitamin A.
BETA CAROTENE
What is it?
Beta carotene is the carotenoid molecule responsible for the orange colour of some fruits and vegetables such as carrots and apricots. Once consumed, beta carotene can be converted by the liver into vitamin A, in its active (retinal) or storage (retinol) form. This is considered a safer way of supplementing vitamin A, as beta-carotene is non-toxic and is converted to vitamin A in only the amount required by the body.
Also, the beta-carotene ingested that is not converted to vitamin A, remains in the system, and can act as an antioxidant to protect the tissues from free radical damage.
Vitamin A Effects
Because beta-carotene is easily converted by the body to vitamin A, it can be said to have all the benefits of vitamin A supplementation as well. Some examples of this are: vision protection, and boosted immune defence of the mucous membranes. For more information on the benefits of vitamin A, please click here.
Important Information
Taking in a large quantity of beta-carotene can turn your skin slightly yellow, but this is not harmful to the body in any way. Beta-carotene supplementation is not recommended for people who smoke tobacco or drink alcohol. Those with hypothyroidism or diabetes may have a reduced ability to convert beta-carotene into vitamin A and should avoid high doses to prevent stressing the liver.
