Probiotics are so important for kids because they go to a place called school. That's where a lot of germs are spread around and children are very prone to getting sick, especially if they're under stress. They will then they get sick and bring it home and then the parents get sick and bring it to work and all of a sudden everybody's sick. Having a child on a good potency probiotic is really crucial to keeping their immune system strong.
Am I getting enough from my yogurt?
Chances are, you're not. So supplementing with Probiotics is a really good idea. Taking a probiotic in a yogurt supplement, which a lot of times, have got sugars and dyes and flavourings in them, and those are things you don't want to necessarily be taking on a regular basis. You're guaranteed potency in a probiotic supplement, it's guaranteed until the date of expiry. With the yoghurts on the shelf, you just don't know if you're actually getting what it says that it has.
What happens when a child’s gut flora is unbalanced?
They get things like constipation or they're not digesting their foods properly. Maybe they've got some more gas and bloating going on as well. Maybe they're getting sick more often, so getting them on a daily probiotic is crucial.
Do allergies affect gut flora?
They are definitely linked to poor gut flora with kids. A lot of children have what's called leaky guts and that's when you have holes in the intestinal tract. By building up the good bacteria healing leaky gut is really, really important to help with allergies.
What is FloraBear?
It is a chewable probiotic that children can take and it's specifically designed using the probiotics that are found in a child's digestive tract. It's something that they can take every day. It's got great taste, and it's a chewable orange tablet.
Who should take it?
All kids benefit from taking it, it's easy to do too. A child can just take it first thing in the morning, or on their way to school. It's a chewable tablet, but they're definitely going to see benefits. It's certainly going to help build the immune system, help them with bowel movements, and help them digest their foods properly. It’s just a great addition to a child's day.
How does it work?
It works by populating the intestinal tract with good bacteria and good bacteria are very, very important to keeping our immune system strong. So if we don't have a lot of good bacteria, then more bad bacteria can take over and that's when we get sick, that's when we get run down. Taking a probiotic every day, especially for kids, is really, really important to keeping that immune system strong, and it also helps with good bowel movements.
What is the daily dosage?
Depending on the age of the child, some of them only need to take one a day. Some children that are a bit older might need to take 2 a day.
Can it be taken with antibiotics?
Kids who have been on antibiotics definitely need to be on probiotics. Not at the same moment, but certainly within the same day. As you're getting rid of the bad weeds with the antibiotics, you want to be planting the good seeds with the probiotics. The more of the good bacteria that you get in the digestive tract, the more it's going to help to crowd out the bad bacteria. If antibiotics have been a part of your child's life, get them on a probiotic.
