Vitamin C Buffered Powder: Hypo-Allergenic Immune Support for Sensitive Systems.
What is Buffered C?
Buffered C is pure ascorbic acid (hypoallergenic vitamin C) buffered with calcium, magnesium and potassium which reduce the acidity of ascorbic acid. This makes Buffered C an ideal vitamin C supplement for individuals with food and environmental sensitivities.
Buffered C is the best choice for individuals with sensitive systems.
Many researchers believe environmental allergies stem from exposure to toxins, and those most likely to develop allergies are those with the greatest sensitivity.
Noted microbiologist and allergy researcher Stephen Levine has participated in research showing that symptoms that can accompany extreme sensitivity - such as cravings for the very foods to which the individual is sensitive - can be lessened with gently formulated nutritional supplements.
Supplements such as those produced by Nutricology can help highly sensitive individuals cope with food and environmental allergies, as well as people whose sensitivities are less severe.
Vitamin C improves immune function and lessens allergic response in numerous ways.
The purpose of the immune system is to expel harmful invaders. For example, in upper respiratory infections it does this by surrounding viruses and bacteria with phlegm, which the individual expels by coughing, sneezing or nose blowing.
Leukocytes (white blood cells) - the immune system's first line of defense - require Vitamin C to function. Macrophages are leukocytes that devour harmful cells, while lymphocytes are leukocytes that are found in lymphatic tissues and consist of cells such as Natural Killer (NK) cells. Macrophages and lymphocytes require high levels of Vitamin C to function optimally.
A healthy supply of leukocytes, macrophages and lymphocytes helps the immune system mount a strong response against substances it should expel for the body's protection. In a study of people exposed to toxic chemicals, initial tests revealed severe depletion of NK cells. After taking Buffered C, NK cell activity increased up to ten-fold in more than 75% of the study participants.
Allergic reactions occur when the immune system attempts to expel things like pollen or pollutants that most people tolerate but that can cause escalating problems in people with sensitive systems.
The immune system also uses Vitamin C to make a substance called complement, which determines how strong an allergic reaction will be, and inhibits synthesis of certain types of prostaglandins, which cause swelling and inflammation.
Complement helps the immune system differentiate between substances it should expel and those it can ignore, and inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis minimizes the swelling and inflammation triggered by the allergic response.
