Not Bad At All!
I needed to cut back on the amount of salt I was consuming, so I bought Herbamare salt free potassium in the handy shaker. I love the stuff! I swap out half of the salt I regularly would have used, and top it off with Herbamare salt substitute: it adds an interesting depth of flavour, almost like umami! The vegetables and herbs are extremely subtle. The potassium salt substitutes in the grocery store are full of sugar and other unnecessary ingredients. I do think it might be a bit of a shock if one were to go cold turkey on salt and use only the potassium, but going halfsies certainly worked for my household.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your love for Herbamare. It is a great substitute to regular salt and you're right, the flavour is delicious! We're glad you're enjoying your purchase.

Stay healthy & well.
Been Using Herbamare Products Since the Seventies
This is an excellent source of potassium. One quarter teaspoon contains 500mg of potassium as well as powdered herbs and vegetables. In pill form, it would be necessary to take 5 pills of 99mg each to equate this amount. Instead of purchasing expensive packages of electrolytes, I buy potassium and magnesium separately and I also use full-sodium Herbamare (green package) sprinkled liberally on my food. The sodium-free (blue package) Herbamare is a reasonably priced source of potassium, an important electrolyte.

Salt for the Soul
I was so surprised to see a one star rating in this salt alternative that I have to write a review. I find this salt is excellent. Besides keeping this on the table at all times I find that it has a nice sliding dispensing resrictor so that you can adjust the amount of salt coming out of the canister. The salt is free of MSG. It may have a little bit of vegetable additive in it that I find pleasantly present. I keep about 3-4 of these on hand. They last a long time, but I do not want to run out.

No Thank You
Unpleasant, there is an aftertaste that I detest. I discarded it.

By far the most popular of the A.Vogel condiments, Herbamare has been a staple in Europe for decades. A brilliant blend of celery, leek, watercress, onions, chives, parsley, lovage, garlic, basil, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, and kelp, all organically grown.

Herbamare Original replaces dreary conventional table salt. Use it as a condiment to perk up your recipes or at every meal to salt your food the healthy way. Add after cooking to enhance taste!

An original and unique Alfred Vogel formula, which perks up your recipes to salt your dishes the healthy way.
Like all of the A.Vogel products, the raw ingredients are literally used immediately after harvesting: vegetables are brought in from the fields and finely chopped, mixed with real sea salt and allowed to marinate: the mixture is then dried under vacuum. This process brings out the flavour of the vegetables, yielding a truly fresh condiment with a superior flavour.

Heart Health

The cardiovascular system consists of the heart and approximately 60 thousand miles of blood vessels, called arteries and veins. The heart pumps blood around the body. The vessels nourish cells by transporting nutrients and waste products, through the blood, around the body.
Any interruption in blood supply, for example a heart attack or stroke, causes tissue death so the maintenance of a healthy cardiovascular system is essential.

Most cardiovascular disease occurs due to lifestyle factors such as: 1. Obesity, poor nutrition, and medication usage. 2. Free radical damage due to environmental toxins or smoking. 3. Stress or poor emotional health. 4. Lack of exercise.

Being overweight is detrimental to cardiovascular health for several reasons. Excess weight increases the force of gravity on an individual. The heart must respond by working harder and increasing blood pressure. Excess food intake causes the body to increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood. Cholesterol shuttles fat around the body and is implicated in the formation of plaque in arterial walls.

Poor nutrition is detrimental to heart health because the heart muscle needs a constant supply of nutrients to keep pumping. The standard North American diet is deficient in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. It is high in saturated fat, refined carbohydrates and chemical additives and preservatives. These substances not only do not give your heart usable energy, but they also contain high amounts of vessel damaging materials like trans-fatty acids.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, leads to heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure and retinal damage. The most common causes of hypertension are narrowed arteries or a decrease in arterial elasticity. Other causes are kidney disease, heavy metal toxicity, obesity, stress and poor diet.

Stroke occurs when blood flow to an area of the brain is compromised and brain tissue begins to die. Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when blood flow is decreased due to the bursting of a vessel. Ischemic stroke occurs when blood flow is decreased due to a blood clot, arterial plaque or air bubble.

Lifestyle factors such as smoking, obesity, improper diet, stress and lack of exercise are bigger indicators of your heart disease risk than family history. Therefore it is encouraging to note that adopting a healthier lifestyle and using natural therapies can maintain a healthy vascular system.

Maintain a healthy weight

  • Consume a heart friendly diet
  • Stop smoking and limit your exposure to environmental toxins
  • Use stress reduction techniques and improve your emotional health
  • Make regular exercise part of your daily routine
  • Supplement your diet with nutrients that support the heart, especially if you take medications that deplete essential nutrients

The key is to look at the maintenance of normal weight as a lifestyle change, not just as a diet that will be over in a given amount of time. See a health professional to ensure that there are no medical conditions that are causing you to gain weight. Remember healthy weight loss is no more than 2-4 lbs weekly.
