Inflammation Relief, one of the first products to be launched in AOR's new nanoVAILABLE line, is a multiple ingredient formula with powerful herbs that have been clinically studied. Moreover, these herbs are subjected to a unique and safe process (industry first) that forms nano-miscelle- particles that are small enough to easily penetrate the intestinal lining and enter the blood thereby considerably enhancing the absorption and bioavailability of these herbs. The proof of course is in the results.

Inflammation - A Double-Edged Sword
Inflammation is a necessary process for survival of any species during infection, injury, damage and repair but persistent inflammation is the cause of numerous diseases. In healthy tissue there is a balance between agents that promote inflammation and those that block it. When there is an infection or injury, the pro-inflammatory agents (like tumor necrosis factor, interleukins, NF- kappaB etc) rally to eliminate the infection or damage and return the tissue to health. When health is restored, these pro-inflammatory agents return to normal levels. In some cases however, the immune system switches from an acute mode to chronic, low-grade-inflammation that can persist for months or years. Low grade chronic inflammation is a feature of many chronic diseases including, atherosclerosis (damage of blood vessels), arthritis, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure and even obesity!

Tackling Chronic and Persistent Inflammation
One way is through the use of natural anti-inflammatory agents. Unlike the pharmaceutical agents, the natural agents have multiple benefits including: non-specificity, multiple mechanisms of action, considerably lower toxicity, synergistic action and many of these herbs have been used for hundreds of years. However, many of these natural ingredients are inherently poorly absorbed and therapeutic concentrations are difficult to achieve in tissues.

Each liquid capsule of Inflammation Relief contains:

curcumin -one of the key constituents of turmeric spice widely used in East Asian cooking and ayurveda. Curcumin is one of the most widely studied natural molecules its safety has been widely acknowledged. Like many natural ingredients curcumin has multiple mechanisms of action including neutralizing powerful and damaging free-radicals, preventing the activation of NF kappa B one of the most powerful inflammatory molecules.

Curcumin has a renowned history of poor bioavailability, meaning that large amounts have to be taken to get results. Up to 8 grams of curcumin can be consumed before any measurable levels make it into the blood stream! This is because curcumin is a large molecule, so it is poorly absorbed through the intestinal lining and into cells, and because phase II detoxification systems in the liver recognize the molecule as foreign and proceed to eliminate it from the body before it can access the body's circulation. Longvida curcumin is broken up into small particles so that it is absorbed through the intestines and into the cells more easily, and a lipid matrix covers each particle which also enhances its absorption but also protects it from phase II detoxification. Boswellia -In clinical studies, Boswellia significantly reduced swelling and pain and improved joint mobility in inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. It is Avurveda's answer to NSAID's (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)! Boswellia is also known for its poor bioavailability. Up to 3 grams are required for effective use. In this case, Boswellia has been dissolved in medium-chain triglycerides, a fatty medium that permits the self-emulsion of Boswellia. This enhances its absorption by the body and gives it stability.

Ashwaganda -Ashwaganda has numerous studies supporting its role as an anti-inflammatory especially reducing Interleukin 1 and 6 levels, key pro-inflammatory agents. Ashwaganda has synergistic activities with both curcumin and Boswellia. Studies also show that ashwaganda improves quality of life. The ashwagandha in Inflammation Relief has undergone the process of nano-technology where the particle size has been reduced to less than 1 m in order to facilitate absorption.

Oleanolic acid -Oleanolic aicd is a triterpenoid another polyphenolic molecule widely found in nature especially in herbs like rosemary, cumin and thyme. Triterpenoids are actively researched for antioxidant properties in quenching both reactive oxygen species as well as reactive nitrogen species. Oleanolic acid has been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antitumor properties in scientific studies. The oleanolic acid has also undergone the process of nano-technology where the particle size has been reduced to less than 1 m in order to facilitate absorption.

Cautions: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking antiplatelet medication or blood thinners, have gallstones, bile duct obstruction, stomach ulcers, excess stomach acid, or if symptoms persist or worsen, or for use beyond six months. Some people may experience mild gastrointestinal effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain/cramps and nausea. Discontinue use if hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) occurs. Consumption with alcohol, other drugs or natural health products with sedative properties is not recommended.
