Ingredients:
| 2 yerba mate tea bags | 2 orange slices | 1 vanilla bean (1 teaspoon of vanilla extract will work too) |
| 1 ¼ cups coconut water [any brand will work] | 2 lemon slices |
Directions
- Using a sharp knife, take your vanilla bean and carefully slice it down the middle to expose the paste inside. Using a spoon, scrap the paste out and place it in a saucepan.
- Add the rest of the vanilla bean, coconut water, orange slices and lemon slices to the saucepan. Using a lid, bring the mixture to a boil on medium heat. Once boiled, reduce heat and bring contents to a simmer for roughly 10 minutes.
- Take the saucepan off the heat, and drop in your two tea bags of Yerba Mate. Returning the lid, and steeping for 10 minutes.
- Pour tea into mugs, and drink hot!
Make It This Way
If you don’t have a vanilla bean handy, don’t panic. You can easily substitute it for 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract instead.
If you’re not worried about this drink being sugar-free, then try adding a little honey to the mixture if you feel like it needs it.
Try This
If you’re lacking the mental stimulation or focus you need, make a batch of this tea and go for a quick walk to get some fresh air while enjoying your drink. When you return you should be able to buckle down and get to work again. Try using this as a replacement for sugary, carbonated energy drinks.
