Vegan Sesame Cheese Sauce

Mmm…Cheesy goodness! Who said you couldn’t enjoy a little Mac n’ cheese and be vegan at the same time. Now with this nut-free, vegan sesame cheese sauce you will be happy to know you can go back to old habits and still accommodate your healthy lifestyle choice. The nutritional yeast provides your cheesy taste while some seasoning helps bring the flavours to life. Spread this over some pasta or enjoy it with some steamed broccoli to bring you back to your childhood days!

Ingredients:
| ¾ cup water | 1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil | ¼ teaspoon onion powder |
| ¼ cup sesame seeds | ¼ cup nutritional yeast | ¼ teaspoon garlic powder |
| 2 teaspoon lemon juice | 1 teaspoon yellow mustard | ¼ teaspoon sea salt |
Directions
- Over medium-low heat, bring your coconut oil to a melt in a medium sized pan.
- Once melted, stir in your nutritional yeast and whisk until fully coated.
- In a blender combine your water, sesame seeds and lemon juice until smooth. Pour mixture into the pan and mix thoroughly.
- Add in all remaining ingredients, whisking and cooking for another 2-3 minutes, or until your sauce thickens up.
- Remove from heat and use as desired!
Make It This Way
If you prefer, you can swap out the coconut oil for a less-sweet version of oil, such as avocado, grapeseed or olive.
We recommend using fresh squeezed lemon juice for best tasting results!
If you prefer more of a nutty taste, try lightly toasting your sesame seeds in the oven for five minutes before blending.

Kick this sauce up a notch by adding a bit of cayenne pepper and a touch of smoked paprika!
