Hello Carmen,
That's great to hear, thank you for sharing.
Good for those who work outdoors
My husband works outdoors and takes this supplement, it definitely helps reduce the effects of outdoor pollutants (dust, smog, smoke from fires). Less coughing and throat clearing.

What is Healthy Lungs?
It is a very unique product that is designed to actually protect the lung and detoxify the lung from all the daily chemicals that the body is exposed to.

What does it contain?
One of its constituents is NAC,(N-acetyl-cysteine). This molecule helps to support the liver function and also to detoxify chemicals. Further, it's  a potent antioxidant that helps to protect the lung from oxidated stress.

How does it work?
It helps to support the liver and detoxifying chemicals that we can be exposed to, keeping our lungs healthy by providing various antioxidants to protect them from oxidated stress.

Who should take it?
People who may have concerns or living in environments where they're exposed to a lot of chemicals, environmental chemicals, should consider taking it. Particularly, people who have asthma or have chronic cough issues or even multiple chemical sensitivities.

What is the recommended dosage?
Take 1 capsule, three times a day.

What are some of the results?
It has actually helped those trying to quit smoking by reducing their cough and also help to regenerate healthier lung tissue. Healthy Lungs is great for smokers because of the wonderful antioxidants that are contained in it to actually help protect the lungs from the smoke that they are exposed to.

    Detailed Ingredient Descriptions:

    N-acetyl-cysteine -
(NAc) is a specially modified form of the dietary amino acid cysteine. NAc is the precursor to a powerful antioxidant called glutathione (a premier detoxifier). Glutathione is found throughout various cells, particularly in the liver, thus it has a vital role in the liver's detoxification of harmful substances. NAc also has the ability to cleave disulfide bonds, thereby breaking up mucoproteins that form mucus in the lungs and improving conditions such as bronchitis and the flu. in a randomized, double-blind study conducted in italy, chronically ill subjects taking NAc were found to have a significant decrease in the frequency or severity of influenza-like episodes

  • Vitamin C - (ascorbic acid) is an important water-soluble antioxidant. oxidative stress caused by free radicals is believed to contribute to the loss of proper lung function and antioxidant nutrients, such as vitamin c, can be protective and beneficial. High dietary and supplementary doses of vitamin c have been shown to protect against the develop- ment of chronic respiratory symptoms. Vitamin c can also help recycle vitamin E (another important antioxidant vitamin) that is often depleted by oxidative stress. in a recent study, significantly decreased levels of vitamin c and vitamin E were found in the lung lining fluid of asthmatics. Numerous double-blind, placebo-controlled studies looking at regular use of vitamin c, confirm that vitamin c may also be beneficial in reducing symptoms of colds and shortening the duration of a cold.

  • Quercetin Dihydrate - is a bioflavonoid that is very supportive of vitamin c. Bioflavonoids are usually found in foods alongside vitamin c often in the white of the rind of citrus fruits and in vegetables such as green peppers and tomatoes. Quercetin has also been shown to reduce histamine levels and allergy symptoms. it is thought to work by stabilizing mast cells and basophils and the subsequent release of histamine and other inflammatory chemicals. Additionally, quercetin is a potent antioxidant that plays a role in scavenging free radicals.

    DL - Alpha Lipoic Acid
is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the body from free radicals. free radicals are groups of atoms that can cause damage to cells and impair the immune system. free radicals can also be formed by exposure to radiation or toxic chemicals such as those found in cigarette smoke. Alpha lipoic acid works in the body by enhancing the antioxidant roles of vitamin c, vitamin E and glutathione. Alpha lipoic acid has been reported to have a number of potentially beneficial effects in the pre- vention and treatment of oxygen-related diseases.

    Grape Seed Extract
(95% oPcs) oPcs (oligomeric proanthocyanidin) are noted for their ability to increase intracellular vitamin c levels, decrease the permeability and fragility of capillaries, scavenge free radicals and slow the destruction of collagen (the important support structure of skin and blood vessels). oPcs have also been shown to prevent the re- lease of inflammatory compounds such as histamine and prostaglandins compounds that can injure the respiratory system.

    Vitamin E -
cigarette smoking and other environmental oxidative stress can deplete levels of vitamin A, c and E. When these vitamin levels are low, the tissues of the lungs become particularly vulnerable to attack by toxins and free radicals. Vitamin E's main role in Healthy lungs is that of an antioxidant to help scavenge free radicals and neutralize them. As well, vitamin E enhances the activity of vitamin c, which is also included in Healthy lungs. together they help supply oxygen to the body, thereby increasing endurance.

    Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine Hcl) -
plays an important role in the Healthy lungs formula as it helps reduce the potential oxidative stress from carbon monoxide, some chemical exposures and irradiation. Vitamin B6, almost more than any of the other B vitamins (except folic acid), supports healthy functioning of the immune system. Asthma responds well to vi- tamin B6 supplementation. Murray (1996) describes one study in which supplementing with vitamin B6 dramatically decreased the frequency and severity of wheezing and asthmatic attacks. furthermore, a recent study published by JAMA, found that people with higher blood levels of vitamin B6 have a lower risk of unhealthy lung cells.

    Zinc
is involved in more body functions than any other mineral. it is critical to the immune system and the detoxification of chemicals and metabolic irritants. Zinc is needed in high concentrations in the lungs. it plays a very important role in cell membrane structure and function. Zinc has the ability to increase t lymphocyte production and enhance other white blood cell functions so its role in immunity is important. individuals with allergies and environmental sensitivities seem to benefit from zinc supplementation. unfortunately, zinc deficiency is becoming more common due to losses during food processing and the depletion of minerals in our soil. Even a mild deficiency of zinc has been associated with depressed immune functioning. Mild to moderate zinc deficiency reduces the body's ability to take up and use oxygen, remove carbon dioxide and generate energy during exercise. this makes it a vital nutrient for healthy lung functioning.

    Vitamin B12 -
is part of the water-soluble B vitamin group which works with folic acid in countless body processes. Murray (1996) describes the work of Jonathan Wright, M.d. who states that "B12 therapy is the mainstay of childhood asthma". Studies have con- firmed a decreased level of B vitamins in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders (coPd). it may be suggested that B group vitamin supplementation may have a beneficial effect on oxidant/antioxidant imbalance in such patients.

    Folic Acid (folate) -
functions together with vitamin B12 in many body processes. B vitamins are essential for proper dNA replication (the genetic material of cells, in good repair), thus possibly why higher blood levels of folate also appeared to protect from unhealthy lung cells. recent studies suggested low serum folate and impaired folate metabolism as potential risk factors for development of asthma and atopic disease.

    Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) -
recent studies now reveal that vtamin d3 appears to enhance lung function. data was collected from over 14,000 adults who took part in a uS National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. researchers divided the participants into five groups based on their vitamin d3 blood levels. they then compared the lung function test results for each group. those with the highest vitamin d3 levels had considerably higher scores on lung function which strongly suggests that vitamin d3 supplementation could be a simple, low-cost way to prevent or slow the loss of lung function.

    Combination Rationale
Healthy lungs is an advanced daily multi-antioxidant designed specifically to support the optimum functioning of our lungs. Scientific research has demonstrated that very specific groups of antioxidants can effectively combat airborne free radicals and help protect the lungs.

CanPrev has included an ideal blend of these critical and potent antioxidants in its Healthy lungs formulation, creating an ideal blend to promote healthy lung function and prevent damage to lung tissue.
