  Sodium Bicarbonateis derived from a naturally occurring mineral called trona. it is a substance that is found naturally in all living things and its purpose is to maintain pH balance in the bloodstream. A balanced pH in the bloodstream is critical to sustaining life. oral ingestion of sodium bicarbonate directly influences plasma bicarbonate concentrations. the most important effect of this oral ingestion is the effect it has on the acid-base balance of the blood's pH level and the bicarbonate concentration in the body's biological fluids. it has a strong and definite alkalising effect. Historically, healing spas used to encourage their patrons to drink bicarbonate-rich water to heal ulcers, colitis and other gastric disorders.
