Championship BMs!
Gives me fabulous BMs. Full, sweet smelling and non-sticky. I wouldn't want to go a day without it.

These Make my Colon Very Happy
I eat very healthy, but still was unable to have consistent, full and regular BMs. Until I started taking this. Problem fixed. I wouldn't want to do without them these days.

Supurb BMs!
This stuff is fantastic. I now have Rock Star BMs. I started with 12/day and have now tapered down to 8, after about 2 months. I can't say my success is 100% attributed to the slippery elm. I also have a prebiotic drink that I take before meals: inulin, apple peal powder, psyllium and chia seeds, in water.

I know that I can always rely on Slippery Elm to fix my problem with IBS. It works very quickly at relieving me of indigestion and abdominal cramping pain, which occurs almost daily. I am so thankful to find Slippery Elm through National Nutrition!

What is Slippery Elm?

Slippery elm is a tree that is native to North America and was first used by native North Americans. They discovered that when the bark was mixed with water it formed a thick mucus-like substance. Slippery elm is a demulcent, an agent that coats and protects mucosal surfaces. The active components in slippery elm are large carbohydrate molecules. In the respiratory tract slippery elm decreases cough, speeds removal of mucus and helps to heal the tract. In the stomach and intestines slippery elm protects the lining from ulceration. Slippery elm also soothes the urinary tract and helps the skin to heal. Natural health practitioners recommend slippery elm for a variety of needs including sore throat, colds, coughs, bladder infections, digestive ulcers, burns, and wounds.

Slippery elm can be found in a variety of different forms including dried, powdered or encapsulated inner bark or liquid extract. It is often used as a lozenge, tea or drink. Topically slippery elm can be mixed with water and applied directly to the skin or onto a poultice. Slippery elm is found in formulas for cold or cough relief, urinary tract health and ulcers. When purchasing slippery elm use only the inner bark. The outer bark contains medicinal components may be harmful and may cause miscarriage. The harvesting of the inner bark of slippery elm usually results in the death of the tree. You may want to inquire about the source and farming practices of the manufacturer of your chosen product.

What is a Demulcent ?
A demulcent is a substance that is used to soothe the mucous membranes in the intestinal tract and stomach and also in the nose, mouth or throat.Demulcent herbs including marshmallow, slippery elm and fenugreek can help soothe and relax the intestine.
