Pur Le Natural’s Rich History
Pur Le Natural isn’t just a supplement brand, it’s a product of over 100 years of passion and experience. This fourth-generation, family-run business traces its roots back to 1888, when Dr Max Thuna, a master herbalist from Austria, opened his first herbal retail outlet in New York. His dedication to herbal medicine quickly expanded with over 25 stores across Canada.
Max’s son, Jack Thuna, inherited his father’s passion and pioneering spirit. Jack studied herbal medicine, founded Canada’s first door-to-door herbal product company, and established the Emerson College of Herbology.
Carrying on with the family legacy, Jack’s son, Al Thuna, became one of Emerson College's first graduates. After launching a company with his brother, Al founded Pur Le Natural to raise the bar for natural health products in Canada. He wanted to exceed Health Canada’s GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, and with his vision, Pur Le Natural became the first herbal supplement brand in Canada to be certified kosher and pareve.
Today, the company is carried on by Joel and Garry Thuna, who uphold the company’s core value of trust and century-old dedication to putting its customers first.
