For over twenty years, this family-owned business has been creating all-natural supplements and skincare products that harness the power of sea buckthorn.
Aside from making premium products, Sibu takes pride in its environmental and social contributions. Sibu practices sustainable harvesting of wild sea buckthorn by using traditional methods that have been practiced for centuries. They also started a refill program for their softgels. Consumers can purchase refill packets and pour them into their original plastic containers. This has helped the company cut down on plastic waste. Sibu also honours sustainable and fair wages for their domestic and international workers, develops fair-trade relationships, and has co-op processing facilities that support local families in the Himalayas.
Traditional & Modern Quality Control Techniques
Sibu hasn’t put in all that work to find the richest sea berries in the world to skimp on quality. Their manufacturing process is done in a way that keeps nutrients intact.
It starts with local Himalayan harvesters gathering the berries using traditional methods. All of Sibu’s berries are hand-harvested by shaking the tree branches and collecting the berries in drop cloths. Within hours of being harvested, the unadulterated processing begins. Their puree and fruit seed oils are minimally processed to retain top nutrient content. The puree is ripe, with raw pulp, and the seed oils are cold pressed and CO2 extracted. Since their raw ingredients are forged under extreme high-altitude conditions, they possess the richest bioactive compounds, ensuring Sibu’s products are packed with peak levels of omega-7. These extractions are then sent to their facilities in the USA, where their products are fully prepared.
Each Sibu formula is plant-based, wild-grown, and cruelty-free. They also have a T7 seal of authenticity to show they are made with real, wild-grown Himalayan sea berries, which offer the most elevated levels of omega-7 in the world.
