SISU LUTEIN 20MG INFORMATION & SUPPORT
Our eyes work harder today than at any time in the past because of artificial light and long hours in front of glaring screens. Seeing begins with light reflecting from an object onto the cornea of your eye, which is a clear film covering your iris and pupil. The light rays are transmitted from your retina as electrical impulses through your optic nerve to your brain, where images are recognized.
Each part of your eye involved in the process of seeing is fed by tiny blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients, including antioxidants, to nourish your eyes and help them repair damage caused by overuse and accumulated exposure to solar radiation. Carotenoids are potent antioxidants found in high concentrations in eye tissue, indicating that carotenoids, such as lutein, are important for eye health.
The best food sources of lutein are kale and spinach, but it is also found in other green vegetables and in small amounts in eggs. A concentrated, targeted supplement is the easiest way to ensure that your eyes have the lutein they need.

Lutein
Lutein is a xanthophyll, a naturally occurring carotenoid, found in highest abundance in green leafy vegetables such as collard greens, spinach and kale. Lutein plays a big part in eye health, and is actually found in the macula of our eyes. Like many carotenoids, Lutein is used by our body as an anti-oxidant.
Lutein has an affinity for the eyes. Lutein is responsible for our eyes ability to absorb blue light, which puts oxidative stress on our eyes. Studies show a correlation between high Lutein consumption and increased pigmentation of the retina. Increased pigment has been shown to lower your risk of macular degeneration and cataracts. It may also prove helpful for retinopathies associated with advanced diabetes. Lutein may also help prevent or slow down atherosclerosis, the thickening of arteries, which is a major risk for cardiovascular disease, and often accelerated with free radical damage.
There is currently no determined daily allowance of Lutein, although 6-10 mg/day is often recommended. Most individuals can achieve adequate amounts with the recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables. It can be consumed as a supplement or sublingual spray for those with compromised digestion. It is often added to combinations supporting eye health.
