What is Floradix Cal-Mag?
It is a balance of calcium and magnesium. It is in a base of slightly digestive bitter tonic herbal teas in order to enhance mineral absorption, gut health, and digestion as well when it’s taken. The formula is also in a base of fruit and vegetable juices to provide co-factors, other plant nutrients, and antioxidants, in addition to fruit and vegetable acids and sugars, which are important to have in the gut while you're taking minerals because they enhance mineral absorption.
What are the benefits?
It is made for bone health, but it is important to keep in mind that calcium is important in the building of strong and hard bones, which our body does primarily during pregnancy, nursing and childhood years. By the age of adolescence, about 90% of our bone building is finished. After that, magnesium becomes more important than calcium. It's important to consider the ratio between them as well. They don't get absorbed at the same ratio when we ingest them. It has a ratio of 1.2 magnesium to 1 part calcium, which has been found in actual studies to be the ideal ratio required to enhance the percentage and the proportions of absorption of each of those minerals. During menopause, women should always add magnesium because it is so important to slow down the bone loss and loss of bone density during this time. If you're taking calcium-magnesium, there is nothing wrong with adding additional magnesium. A large percentage of the population is magnesium-deficient.
Daily Dosage
It is designed as a one dose per day kind of formula. It's your generic, one size fits all recommendation for bone health, teeth enamel, connective tissue integrity, people that bleed or bruise easily, wrinkling, aging process, and those kind of conditions. You'd always want to think of the minerals, and, of course, the host of all other minerals as well.

Bone Health
Both calcium and magnesium are critical for strong bones, however; the average person's intake of these minerals is imbalanced. The ratio of calcium consumption far outweighs that of magnesium consumption, which affects their subsequent absorption and utilization and sets the stage for weak bones and over-calcification of the body.
New studies are showing us that the best way to maintain the health of our bones is not through increased calcium intake alone, but rather through the regular use of a balanced calcium magnesium supplement that effectively addresses the many complicated issues that prevent the adequate absorption and proper utilization of calcium. One like Salus Calcium Magnesium.
Co-Factors for proper ultilization
Magnesium is a key factor for bone strength. Sufficient amounts are required to ensure proper calcium utilization, thereby preventing calcium deposits in soft tissue. A study by Dr. Abraham that used a 1.2:1 magnesium to calcium ratio, along with co-factors, resulted in a significant 11% increase in bone mass compared to only 0.7% in the control group.Salus Calcium Magnesium uses this higher ratio of magnesium to help properly utilize both supplemented and dietary calcium and to address the increasing problem of over-calcification of the body.
Vitamin D has been added to facilitate the adequate absorption of calcium (including dietary sources) at the vitamin D dependant, active transport sites.
Zinc has been added to assist bone matrix synthesis.
