Good Vibration
It tastes real...it feels real. The advantageous pharmacological profile, from cardio and metabolic to basic gut health are well documented, especially in a fermented form. Dosage wise, start slow and learn as you go. On the third day of a fast, this ginseng speaks very clearly.

WHAT ARE GINSENG SUPPLEMENTS?

Did you know ginseng has been used for centuries in traditional medicine practices, particularly in East Asia? Indeed, one of the first written texts that discusses the medicinal use of this herb dates back to 196 AD. It's a unique root of plants in the genus Panax and comes in many varieties.

ginseng contains very unique compounds known as ginsenosides or panaxosides, which are largely responsible for the root’s medicinal properties. These compounds have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-enhancing effects, among many others, which explains why it is so effective for supporting cognitive function, bolstering immune health, and strengthening sexual function. Moreover, it is widely recognized as an adaptogen, which means it helps the body better cope with physical and mental stress and is an expert at improving energy and performance.

There are several varieties of ginseng, each originating from different regions of the world and having unique properties. Here are some of the notable varieties:

Asian Ginseng (Panax ginseng): Also known as Korean, Chinese or Asian ginseng, it is one of the most well-known and widely used varieties. It is native to regions like China, Korea, and Siberia. This variety is further classified based on the processing method into white (dried but unprocessed) and red (steamed and dried) ginseng.

American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius): Native to North America, this variety is primarily found in the United States and Canada. It is considered less potent than the Asian variety but is still highly valued for its medicinal properties.

Siberian Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus): Despite its name, this variety is unrelated to true ginseng (Panax species). It is native to Russia, China, Japan, and Korea. This strain is also known as Eleuthero, increases energy, reduces fatigue, improves cognitive function, enhances exercise performance, and relieves menopausal symptoms.

Indian Ginseng (Withania somnifera): Also known as Ashwagandha or Winter Cherry, this variety is a different plant species but is sometimes called ginseng due to its similar adaptogenic properties. It is native to India, and its root is commonly used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine.

Brazilian Ginseng (Pfaffia paniculata): This variety also called Suma root or Para Todo, is a plant native to South America. It has been traditionally used in Brazilian folk medicine for its energizing and rejuvenating effects.

Different Potencies, Forms & Formats Of Ginseng Supplements

You can pick up a ginseng supplement in any health food store and many drug stores. They are also widely available online. They come in all sorts of delivery formats, according to individual needs and preferences; for instance, you can choose capsules or tablets (by far the most popular form,) as well as liquid extract, powders, teas, and fast-acting energy drinks or shots.

Ensure Safe Usage Of Ginseng Supplements

Ginseng is generally considered safe for most people when taken in the recommended doses. However, there are some potential side effects and contraindications to mention. Indeed, some individuals may be allergic. If you experience symptoms like rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing, discontinue use and seek medical attention. This herb can also interact with certain medications, including blood thinners, anticoagulants, immunosuppressants, and certain antidepressants. Also, because it can affect blood pressure, it's vital to monitor BP closely if you have high or low blood pressure while taking ginseng. Finally, it’s worth noting that it is known for its stimulating properties, which can cause difficulty sleeping, restlessness, or irritability, particularly if taken in higher doses or close to bedtime.
