Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have or are at high risk for blood clots (e.g. if you are temporarily or permanently immobilized, over the age of 80, taking birth control pills, etc.), heart diseases and/or circulatory problems (e.g. Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), heart attack, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc.), or have kidney disease. May cause temporary transient increases in levels of creatine kinase that are unassociated with any disorder. Discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner in case of rash or hypersensitivity, as this may be a sign of a serious allergic reaction (DRESS or Stevens-Johnson syndrome). Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond six months.
Strontium Support - The First Bone-Building Supplement!
What is Strontium?
Strontium is a mineral found along with Calcium in most foods. Research has long suggested that it may be an essential nutrient required for the normal development, structure, function and health of the skeletal system. Clinical studies going back into the 1940s have supported this conclusion, but recent studies have that it can offer unique nutritional support against loss of bone structure and function.
In both human and animal clinical studies Strontium supplementation has shown to:
- Both decrease bone resorption (teardown) and increase the formation of new bone tissue.
- Cause osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to multiply more quickly.
- Helps to synthesize more bone matrix and new bone collagen.
- Slow the rate at which immature osteoclasts (bone-destroying cells) develop.
- Encourage new bone formation after six months.
What Causes Bone Loss?
Bone loss accelerates suddenly in menopausal women because the drop in estrogen levels causes an increase in the resorption (teardown) of existing bone. But resorption is only half the story. Age related bone loss is also caused by a decrease in the formation of new bone tissue.
Existing drugs for treating osteoporosis, as well as calcium and vitamin D supplement, work by reducing bone resorption. But they do not support the formation of new bone.
Strontium Support from AOR not only inhibits the excessive breakdown of existing bone, but also powerfully boosts the body's ability to build new bone.
Osteoporosis
Bone loss is a major concern for both women and men, but more so for women (due to hormonal factors) who generally lose more bone mass than men. Your bones need to be given adequate levels of the nutrients that they need to repair themselves. When you are deficient (or due to other aggravating factors) loss of bone mass results. Clinically, osteoporosis is a loss of bone density that surpasses the amount that normally occurs due to aging. The spine and hips are the most vulnerable areas. Women are most commonly affected especially after menopause when they lose the protective effect of estrogen. As the bones become brittle they fracture and collapse more easily. The degeneration results in pain and decreased mobility.
Osteoporosis is caused by a number of factors including a sedentary lifestyle, lack of minerals, hormonal changes, hypothyroidism, smoking, a high protein diet, alcohol intake, caffeine intake and stress. Long term use of the following medications decreases bone density - antacids, blood thinners, diuretics, anti-seizure medication, ulcer medication and all corticosteroids.
