Norway is home to rich herring fishing grounds, one of the main sources of food for the Norwegian people. Herring oil derived from the roe of Norwegian spring-spawning herring is rich in the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, as well as choline. Choline is important for healthy liver function and cognitive performance, and is a precursor for the powerful brain chemical acetylcholine, which helps us process information faster and improves memory. Herring oil also contains natural astaxanthin, a member of the carotenoid family, and is one of nature's most powerful antioxidants. Clinical studies have demonstrated that astaxanthin supports cardiovascular and immune health, as well as protects the skin from premature aging and other health risks associated with exposure to the sun's UV rays.
This oil is sourced in an environmentally friendly, sustainable manner. The Marine Stewardship Council whose mission is to conserve the marine habitat certified the Norwegian spring-spawning herring fishery.
